Week 10 Part A: Researching Email Marketing

The amount of emails that should be sent depend on multiple factors. If you are trying to gain new customers, sending out large targeted email blasts with more frequency will get the most amount of people aware of your product/service. However if you are sending out emails to returning customers, there are a few important things to come in mind. Email services will automatically block certain addresses that spam too much, so it’s important not to overhear your current customers email client. Customers also don’t like too much email being sent in, even if they have deals or whatnot. An excessive amount of special deals and unwanted email content will make your product/service seem cheap. I think 3 per month would be a healthy medium, with a little less or more being okay as well.

  • What information could your business use for a newsletter? Write a list of content ideas you think your customers would enjoy seeing and explain why:
  • Quick end easy tips for social media growth - gets prospects to try out and see a few tips i would use in their work
  • sites to make quality visual content easily - goes with one above. these two could serve as a good beginner guide to social media marketing
  • free templates and tutorials - there are tons of projects
  •  that can be easily flipped into templates used to help other businesses
  • special promo for limited free designs - giving a special offer (only in email and not other forms) that would essentially allow for a “free trial” of my service allowing them to  use my service for free or at a discounted price for limited time
  • special events worth checking out happening around the social media industry - there are always great resources and events happening around the world of social media. these events can be an easy way to get people to click on your email, while also hiding some cheeky marketing in there.

    1. Dan, you have some great points about newsletters. There is a fine balance between communicating with your customers and potential customers and flooding them with emails they don't read. Like everyone, the number of my on line purchases I make each month have increased. And there are a couple of sites I have ordered from that send multiple emails a day. For me that is too much communication. After awhile, I just ignore them or mark them as spam. I think you have a right idea, I think three emails a month sounds about right.
Good luck on the last part of the class.

    2. Hello Dan! I think special promos sound like a great idea for your business! Things that are exclusive to your business and offer people access for sale or free will definitely attract customers I believe!

    3. I totally agree with your opinion. If you send too much newsletter to bother receivers, you may be blocked. If you are blocked, you will lose one customer.
